Gtrot.com Launch

Gtrot.com has done a great job of using the Facebook API to show you where your friends have traveled and much more.
Gtrot “short for globe-trotting” started as a class project at Harvard, Gtrot went on to win the Harvard College Innovation Challenge and has piggybacked on Facebook data to graduate from a college assignment to a venture-backed business. It also followed Facebook’s college-only invite model, operating in private beta since the first version was released in late 2009 at Harvard and now is open to the public.
Nice work Zachary…

There is No New “Tech Bubble”
There is no tech bubble, there is no internet web 2.0 bubble… Here is a quote from Henry Blodget the Editor-in-Chief of Business Insider:
Insight Partners was kind enough to ask me to speak to some of their investors this afternoon.
The topic: Whether or not there’s a new tech bubble.
(As an Internet stock analyst from 1996-2001, I had a good view of the last one.)
My answer?
No, there’s no new tech bubble. At least not yet.
A few hot companies have high multiples, and there’s some silly stuff happening in the angel and secondary markets. But this is just a cyclical tech boom, not a bubble.
That said…
There are plenty of other things to worry about these days. Things that are scarier than a tech bubble…

Top Tip to Creating a Successful Business
Back in 2009 I was interviewed and asked the following question:
“You have run and built many successful businesses, what’s your top tip to creating a successful business?”
Prioritize your goals. For example, I have a list of tasks for each week. The list is prioritized depending on the amount of revenue each item might bring in. So if I get an idea that I feel could increase my revenue by 10% and I have another idea on my list that will increase revenue by about 2%, the higher revenue increaser will hit the top of the list. Of course, you need to do your projections to make these estimates. I will often set up an excel spreadsheet to figure out my projections for a new idea for my sites.

It’s now super easy to add a “Share on Tumblr” button to any site.
Adding the basic Tumblr Button couldn’t be simpler. Just cut and paste the code and you’ll be off running. But the advanced options are where it gets interesting…
The Tumblr Button can give you complete control over how your content appears when shared on Tumblr. Not only does this mean specifying an excerpt or summary, but also deciding whether it appears as a Link, Quote, Photo, or Video Embed.
Even better: This can be deeply integrated with just about any publishing platform to add contextual buttons next to things like paragraphs or photos. Check out these examples.
The appearance of the button is also completely customizable.
